Finding calm in a chaotic world

Currently there are huge fires blazing away and destroying homes and forests, earthquakes also bringing destruction, heavy rain and flooding and extreme heat bringing drought. The world as we know it is changing rapidly. Much of what we have known is now crumbling around us. Things we have taken for granted are no longer secure and there are many who live in fear. Will they be able to keep their homes and live safely or will they have to leave and go elsewhere? Not only have we got a pandemic but we are getting these extreme weather and other natural events causing so much chaos.

But it is no good worrying about tomorrow as we do not know what tomorrow will bring. We do not need to worry about the past either although looking back at the past can show us how to avoid similar pitfalls this time around and learn from our mistakes.

Being in the present, living each day as it comes and making the best of it is important. Staying calm and showing others that we are calm helps others to become calm too. Sending love and peace out into the world each day and living that way ourselves also shows others that there is another way. Being calm and loving around others helps them to feel that way too and they then do the same and this in turn helps even more people to be calm and loving. A bit like the ripples on a lake or river when you throw in a stone and see the ripples spreading out for a wide distance.

As we experience the changes that are taking place now and those that are to come, staying calm, loving and peaceful is very important. Anger does not produce anything good and only makes things worse. As we stand together in peace, love and serenity we will be able to change the world to one we wish to have but this will not happen overnight. It could take several years for it to change to something better and for the crumbling walls to be built in a different way that benefits us all. Stay calm and send out that feeling to others. There is a better life ahead. We just need to be patient which for many of us is very hard. Change will come though and eventually it will bring a better world. But we have to get rid of the old to make space for the new.

Staying calm in a chaotic world

Staying calm can sometimes be extremely difficult in the world of today. There is so much going on in the world around us as well as in the wider world and there is so much pressure to do this or do that or be that way not the other way and so on.

Many years ago when I was first working with the Reiki energy I learned to stop and take deep breaths when I was getting worked up about something or pressured into doing something that I knew was not right for me. I also gave myself a boost of the Reiki energy. But not everyone can do this so how can you stay calm when you need to be calm?

I find that just stopping whatever I am doing and looking around me at the world of nature outside my window calms me down. I love to watch what is going on outside the window in my garden. I can see butterflies and damselflies and lots of flying insects all busy about their daily work.

But what if you don’t have a garden outside your window but have noisy traffic and other sounds. Then you have to find a place in your imagination where you can go to when you need peace. Have you been on holiday somewhere or on a day out where you have found a place you really like and feel at peace there? This is the place you go to in your imagination when you need to feel calm and peaceful. It can only be for a minute but it will help. It is the stopping what you are doing and taking a few seconds or minutes out that does the trick. Don’t think of what is getting to you but think of the peaceful place you love. If you do this regularly then you will feel much better and get less stressed by everything that is going on. You will be more able to go with the flow of things as they occur and deal with them in a much easier way. So take a few minutes out at intervals during your day and see how much difference it can make.

Here is a photo taken in my garden this week.

A blanket of calmness

Friday evening there was an eclipse and a full moon, the Snow Moon as well as a meteor the following morning. On Saturday morning I woke up to a thin blanket of snow on the ground. Very apt as it was the Snow Moon! Everywhere seemed so much quieter, peaceful and calm. I have noticed this many times before. The blanket of snow mutes the sounds of traffic and people and seems to calm everything down to a slower pace. It led me to thinking what a wonderful thing it could be if this happened in places that needed calm and quiet.

Words, thoughts and actions are all forms of energy. Have you ever noticed how the energy around you or a group of people, changes when you chant? Do you use singing bowls or other items which make resonating sounds? If so have you noticed how the energy changes when you use them? So how would the energy of our world change if there was a blanket of calmness around it and on it?

When you are calm you can think better, decide what is right for you and how you can change the things that are wrong. Calm brings clarity of thought, it brings peace and understanding. Maybe those who are protesting or protecting could send out this feeling of calm energy, the feeling of peace and the feeling of togetherness. Some protectors are doing this by holding sacred ceremonies and by praying. Is this the way to go?

Your thoughts as usual are welcomed.

Staying calm in a chaotic world

The world as we have known it is changing rapidly. Much of what we have known is now crumbling around us. I wrote about the ripples in a pond the other week and we are still feeling the effects of those ripples. And we will feel them for much longer. Things we have taken for granted are no longer secure and there are many who live in fear. Will they be able to keep their homes and live safely or will they have to leave and go elsewhere? This is only one example of the changes happening.

Like the ripples on the pond, being calm and loving around others helps them to feel that way too and they then do the same and this in turn helps even more people to be calm and loving.

I am one of those people who smile at others in the street and say Good morning or afternoon when we pass each other. This brings a smile and a comment in return and for all I know may have made the day for someone a much better day. I know from experience that this is true and it is so easy to do.

The arrival of Summer

I am being hopeful that summer has now arrived. It is much warmer and the sun is shining but for how long? However what really gives me so much joy and great pleasure is the amount of green I can see. There are so many trees around me, not all the same as some have yet to wear their full summer clothes, but some are hawthorn and the scent is amazing.

Each day I try to walk for at least a mile going around the different roads so I can see different views. It is hilly here so you can see quite a distance from certain places. Of course, the trees obscure some views now but I love to look at the trees. Yesterday I walked along a road with many different trees in gardens and some beautiful flowers too. It is so colourful, rainbow colours of every hue and so beautiful to see.

One day in the week I spent an hour just sitting and contemplating in a small area of park. I watched the ducklings move around from one side of the pond to the other and saw them being shooed away by their parents who were trying to help them to become independent. It was peaceful, calm and had this sense of renewal too. I am going to try to visit this place at least once a week.

Also nearby is a small patch of wildflower ground amongst some trees. This week the cow parsley is taking over so I shall keep an eye out for the butterflies that love this plant. So much to see, so much to enjoy. What a wonderful life!
